[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 440px; height: 600px; background-image: url(http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/7845/bgeyfax7ba.jpg); -moz-border-radius: 250px; border-radius:100px 100px 100px 100px; border: 3px solid #ffffff;] 'CAUSE YOU ASKED FOR IT for the last time that evening, nate took another look at the piece of folded parchment on the end of his bed. it lay open, displaying an often dreaded message for the world to see (if they happened to walk by the bed and look down, of course): nathaniel, a long sigh passed the boy's lips as he turned his attention away from it, he had the message memorized anyways, and looked to a mirror that hung in the corner of the room, suspended in the air by magic, of course. he looked pretty good, he thought. hopefully up to cupid's standards of 'dressing up'. he might not be exactly happy with the arrangements, but he didn't want to piss off the mysterious being right off the bat without giving at least this evening a try. wizards usually dressed up in something called dress robes, or at least that was the traditional way, nate had been told, but being muggleborn he found little reason for the traditional wizard ways. he wanted to hold on to some of his roots, at least, so he wore a simple tux for the night. black, of course, with a maroon tie showing his pride for the noble house of gryffindor. at moments like this, nate kinda wished he were true to his birth. don't get him wrong, he loved being a wizard and having an entirely new world opened up to him, but there was this major drawback to that new world... he knew his family didn't exactly approve of this aspect of his life, either. no 'normal' girlfriend for him. really no 'real' girlfriends up until the letter that he could introduce to his little sisters or that his parents could make teasing comments about being their only future daughter-in-law. now those jokes would, if cupid had his way, be too true. okay, debbie downer... cheer up! satisfied with his appearance and determined to at least try to stop being so negative, nate left his letter lying on his bed and started walking out of the dorm, running back thirty seconds later to pick up the bouquet he'd almost forgotten. it was the part of the evening that he had spent the most time on this evening. sure, the almighty cupid wanted everything to be all romantic, but anyone with common sense knew that that just wasn't the way love and relationships worked. nate had no delusions of instantly falling in love the moment he walked into the room with the girl, adalae if he was remembering right, but he did want to at least be friendly tonight and not piss off cupid... some other boys, or men, might have gone with roses for this first 'date', but nate felt that was too... bold. nah, he didn't want to overwhelm her. this entire situation would likely be overwhelming enough for the each of them... so instead, with a few suggestions from his sisters, he'd just gotten her a small little bouquet of irises. definitely not the first flower that came to mind when you thought of love, but in nate's opinion that was perfect. when you were on your way to something that you just wanted to get over with, even the walk there seemed to take ages. at least, that was the stereotype, wasn't it? in nate's opinion the wandering through the halls to cupid's area too far too little time, and suddenly he was standing in front of the door labeled '113', which swung open at his touch and closed behind him. he was at least a half hour early... great. and then, suddenly, nate found he was too nervous to even take in the appearance of the luxurious room, instead just finding a chair in a small sitting area in the corner of the room and sitting down after placing the flowers on an end table beside his seat. soon, however, he discovered that h was far too jittery to sit still and so began a usual pattern of sitting for a minute, and pacing for three. there was nothing to do but wait. there can be only one mikey! of caution 2.0 |
