Jazzy sighed as the owls came for thier daily mail run. She sighed knowing that she more then likely wasn't going to get anything. She smiled lightly and grabbed a bagel. It was breakfast and she was starving. She smiled lightly as she ate the bagel. Soon she heard a familure sound of an owl crashing down on the seat beside her. She smiled lightly and looked over at the poor pathetic owl. He was cute and was holding a light envelope addressed to Jazzlyn, it was tied gently around his foot. She smiled brightly pulled it off and gave him a piece of bagel and sent him on his way.
She smiled lightly as she looked down at it. It was her cupid letter. She was so excited. She knew where she needed to go. She had to find Jay. He was her best friend and they had made a pact to open them together. She was so excited. She hoped he had his because she had no time to wait to open this letter. She smiled brightly and gathered her things got out of her seat and ran down the hall searching for Jaedyn. Her eyes searched the grounds but no sight of him.
She smiled stopping dead in her tracks. She knew exactly where he would be. Or if he wasn't there currently she knew he would know where to go find her. She smiled brightly and looked at her letter holding in close to her chest. She wanted so badly to be paired with him but she knew it was a long shot. She was in love with him but never had the guts to tell him.
She knew that with Cupid threating to kill those who cheat on thier matches that her and Jay were never going to be together. She sighed lightly and walked up to the wall where her destination was headed. She sighed and closed her eyes thinking about jaedyn. She knew what she was expecting to see when the door finally appeared. She smiled and waltz in lightly smiling the while time. She was happy when she walked in and saw thier normal hang out. She smiled lightly and walked over to her favorite over stuffed lime green chair. She was so happy.
She sighed and she smoothed out her green skirt and pulled off her black sandles. She smiled as she waited for her best friend to show up. She knew it wouldn't belong because he some how knew everytime she was in this room. She smiled lightly and looked at her book. She smiled lightly and her mind drifted off towards the cupid letter. She was so scared that she was going to get some off the wall stupid person who she knew nothing about. She didn't want to get with any one but Jay. She wanted that boy more then anything and never told him. She was so scared he would turn her down. She sighed as she looked at the letter in her own little dream world.

words // 000 // outfit // clicky // tagged // anyone boy with a coin, T H E N M A K I N G A W I S H , A N D T O S S E D I N T H E S E A the moment aphrodite had soared through the open window in the clock tower, jaedyn's heart had sunk. he'd known. he just had, instinctively, been sure that his letter was here. of course he wouldn't be one of those lucky bastards who kept their singleness and freedom until they were thirty years old... that would be too nice of a dictator being who enjoyed enslaving wizards and witches to matches they despised. seventeen... only frickin' seventeen. it was ridiculous how young so many people were paired with their 'match'. the other day he'd heard of a third year girl being sentenced to the rest of her life with a twenty year old dragon tamer. at thirteen he hadn't even had his first date yet, let alone any wishes to be pinned down to a lifestyle he didn't desire.
ignoring the bird didn't help, of course. after glancing up and seeing the approaching figure (he knew it wasn't a letter from his parents as they'd sent one the day before), he'd quickly put his gaze back down to the history of magic textbook he was 'studying' with. the creature settled on the rail above jae's head and just sat there, peacefully, without a single sound. a second passed. two. five. ten. half a minute. jae allowed himself to breathe a sigh of relief, though he wasn't certain why... maybe his owl had flown away? he turned slightly and tried to sneak a peak over his shoulder to find the owl staring right back at him, head cocked slightly. when it caught his gaze it let out a quiet hoot and jumped to the air, landing on his leg. jae glowered at the bird for a moment, and returned his eyes to his book. it was a pretty pathetic battle of wills, one that he would certainly lose, but jae felt this little form of rebellion was the best he could do at the moment. the silence didn't last so long this time- it was broken by an "ack!" on jae's part as the bird dug its claws into his leg, squeezing tight and refusing to release the pressure.
"buzz off!" he growled at the owl, glaring harder than ever and holding in a hiss of pain. the owl just sat there, consistantly increasing the pressure of its claws, staring back at him unblinkingly. of course it wouldn't leave until its message had been delivered... dropping it in the lake on its way to deliver the letter would have been too convenient, wouldn't it have? "...fine. you win, you bloody chicken wing." the hufflepuff set the textbook down beside him none too gently, more like slammed it down, and reached forward to untie the letter from the bird's leg. aphrodite... what a pathetic name. the bird had been a gift from his mother on his eleventh birthday, and the woman (a hopeless romantic despite being abandoned by her 'match' a year after jaedyn was born) had also chosen the name. out of respect for her jaedyn would never change it, but he knew that thanks to this letter it would likely feel like a slap in the face each time he looked at the snowy owl from today on.
with the envelope already crumpled in jaedyn's angry fist, aphrodite had no more use sticking around, so with a soft hoot she lifted into the air, disappearing into the sun thirty seconds later. jaedyn's eyes followed her path, refusing to look down at the paper in his grasp. maybe he could just let it 'float' out of his hands... let the window carry it out of the tower 'to a land far-far away' where he couldn't find it... cupid couldn't fault him for that, could he? ...nah, he could, and likely would. jae would save the pissed off rebellion for when he actually knew who he was doomed to be with.
it was good that jae had a pact that disallowed him from opening the letter at this moment, because he was desperate for any sort of procrastination. unfortunately he knew exactly where he had to go to make the procrastination end... and jazzy might kill him if he didn't go to her immediately. so, with a small sigh, the seventh year packed up his things into his bag and set off down the steps of the tower, through the hallways until he came to the familiar corridor that housed the room of requirement. a few seconds of thinking later the door appeared, which jae promptly walked through. she was there, of course, as he'd expected. looking bright and cheerful as always, relaxing in a lime green chair that matched the general coloring of her house. jae tried to force a small smile at her, but found it a bit difficult to be cheerful as he collapsed into a ball chair across from her, slouching to fit into it and dropping his bag on the floor. he waved his left hand in the air, displaying the crumpled envelop still crushed in his grasp. Jazzy sighed as she watched her best friend come through the door. He was furious and she could tell he was mad that his letter had come. She sighed as she watched him slink into the ball chair across from her. Then as if to say 'I surrendor' he held up his letter in the air. She sighed as he spoke. She then pulled her letter out of her purse and sighed lightly looking at him. She knew that since they had both gotten thier letters they would have to open them that day. She was hoping he hadn't gotten his yet so she could wait a little bit to open her fate. She sighed and looked at him, she was super nervous and did not want to see who they were paired with. She sighed and then rearranged herself into a seated position. She looked at him and then away. She wanted to be with him but they never got the chance to see what could have been with them. Her eyes shifted back to his letter and then her eyes shifted to her letter. She was so scared to read her letter. Soon she spoke towards him nervously.
"Mine came to and I am so scared to find out who i am paired with, Because I know I will not be happy."
She sighed and her eyes drifted around the room. She was so nervous to find out and just wanted to open it and read who she was forever stuck to. She was only sixteen and that was awefully young to find out who she was destined to. She just wanted to tell him how she felt before they found out who they were going to be with. She sighed, she just didn't know how to tell him that she loved him. She was scared that he would reject her and then the fact that he would be happy with his match and she would be completly misrible. She sighed and looked at him her brown eyes digging deep into his. She was scared and was trying to get him to understand that she didn't want to read what the paper had to say. She wanted to go through life in complete and utter oblivion to who she was destined to. She sighed and looked at her letter. She smiled lightly and crumpled it up throwing it on to the floor.
"I changed my mind I don't wanna know. You can read it but i just can't know who i am 'destined' to spend life with"
She didn't wanna tell him that she loved him and thats why she didn't wanna know. She just wanted everything to go away so she could just live a normal life. She never thought she would fall for her best friend. She never thought she would be as close to him as she was. But now as she sat here in thier spot she knew that she wanted to be with him and only him. She would never tell him this, simply so he could live a happy life with his betrothed. As long as he was happy she didn't care if she was with him or if some one else was with him. She just didn't want to lose him as a friend. She knew she needed to pretend to be happy for who ever his match was.

words // 000 // outfit // clicky // tagged // anyone boy with a coin, T H E N M A K I N G A W I S H , A N D T O S S E D I N T H E S E A based on stereotypes of houses, it was extremely out of character for a hufflepuff (especially a 'mature' seventh year like jaedyn) to be so incredibly pissed off. it was out of character for jaedyn as an individual, too. he was usually a pretty calm guy, he liked to think. friendly, helpful... yeah, he wasn't a bad dude to hang around. but he had never agreed with cupid and the pathetic match system. who the hell did cupid think he was to know who everyone else was meant to be with? most people didn't even know who they were meant to be with, even if they were in a serious relationship, so how could someone unrelated to them and their lifestyles know? cupid matched stranger with stranger and enemy with enemy, the dude was seriously fucked up and jaedyn didn't want to end up just another victim of a god on a power trip.
jazlynn didn't deserve to be on the receiving end of one of jae's rants, though. the boy's body language made his displeasure obvious enough without her being subjected to every word rolling around in the hufflepuff's turmoiled brain, and if he started to rant now he didn't think he'd be able to end it within the next week. it was only for her sake that jaedyn tried to keep his mouth shut and make his despair less obvious, though he failed miserably at least she didn't need to hear the verbal assault.
"Mine came to and I am so scared to find out who i am paired with, Because I know I will not be happy." well... that was something interesting, at least. often friends got their letters years apart, or at least months. it was kind of an 'awesome' coincidence that he and jazlynn would each get their letter on the same day. he supposed it was good in a way... they could each be the other's support through the next couple of months while knowing what the other was going through. of course neither of them would be happy.. there were very few wizards or witches in the world who eagerly anticipated the day their cupid letter would arrive with their daily owls.
still, he was kind of stunned when she crumpled up her paper, tossing it away from her. it quickly skidded to a stop a foot away from jaedyn's chair, where he just looked at it for a moment. "I changed my mind I don't wanna know. You can read it but i just can't know who i am 'destined' to spend life with" "not smart, jaz... you can't piss off cupid yet. believe me, i know how you feel, but... just give the guy a chance before you decide what to do. maybe something'll spark." he hardly held the same ideals for his own match, though. screw whoever it was. he wasn't going to be forced into an untrue love. honestly, once reading the name and figuring whether there was any potential for something real or not, he'd rather rebel than be stuck in a relationship he felt would go nowhere. he'd accept the consequences as long as he was actually free to some degree. but the thought of jazlynn getting hurt somehow just because she didn't even want to know who she was paired with... that didn't appeal at all.
sighing, the hufflepuff leaned forward off of his chair, picking up the parchment. she'd said he could read it... but that didn't feel right. it wasn't his information to know, especially not before she knew it herself, so he lightly tossed the parchment back her way. "you read yours, i'll read mine, and then we'll insult each other's match 'til we feel better, kay?" the hufflepuff offered her a small smile, hoping to see her give him one in return so that the mood might be a bit less sombre. notes // notes here notes here notes here |

Jazz sighed as he spoke. He made sense and she knew that she had to read her letter but she didn't want to. But in her mind she wasn't gonna like whoever it was and she was going to rebel. She knew she had to make one thing clear before she read her letter. She had to tell Jae what she thought about him. She sighed and she knew her words were going to come out no matter what she did. She just wanted to tell him and get it over with. But everytime she opened her mouth she froze and shut it again.
She sighed and she knew that she needed to tell him but she was so afraid to tell him. He would reject her and he would tell her she was a stupid little kid. She had loved this boy for to long of a time to screw this all up. She was nervous and then looked at him. She sat up in her chair and walked over to sit next to him. She would rather be uncomfortable and be with him then be comfortable and be away from him. As she said this in her mind it made her laugh just a bit.
She smiled and looked into his deep brown eyes. She couldn't think of a better way to be spending this monumentous occasion then with him. She was about to find out who her soul mate was and it made her happy that he was here to share this occasion with her and she with him. She smiled lightly and scooted a little bit away from him. She needed to be with him and she wanted to be with him. She sighed and then sighed and knew she needed to speak but she was scared.
"Jae I have something to tell you something....."
She sighed and then looked away. She stood up and walked over to the other chair. She needed to escape the room. She was nervous and knew she wanted to just run over to him and kiss him. But sadly she wasn't that brave. She was going crazy in her own head just wishing she had the nerve to just run over to him and make out with him. She was to shy and needed to get out of the room. She was sufficating in her own world and knew that this was a mistake. She should have just kept things to herself.
She sighed and then looked at him. She was suprised that she had looked back over towards him. She knew she had fear in her eyes and knew that maybe just maybe he would see it. She didn't want to ruin thier friendship ao ahe knew what she had to do. She had to just go along with this stupid match thing and just wanted escape from this world she was in. She wanted to be there with him and she wanted him to hug her and kiss her and just wrap his arms around her. But she knew that would never happened. he didn't like girls like her.
"Never mind"
