Kohaku stared at the owl who was hovering in front of him, fighting back the urge to glare at the bird for disrupting his nap. "I don't get enough sleep and now you insist on bothering me?" He grumbled in Japanese, not at all happy at being woken up. The owl only looked at him before giving him the letter and flying away with out even a appologetic glance back. "Blasted animal." He grumbled before opening the letter. He froze as he read the words on the parchment infront of him and closed his eyes praying to the Kami that it wasn't what he saw it was. However the letter was still infront of him, taunting him when he opened his eyes. "Great, just great." he muttered, stuffing the paper into his robe pocket and getting up. "Obasan's going to be extatic, she'll think that having my 'true love' here will be enough to tether me to England." However, he knew that he had to let his Obasan and Ojisan know so that they could send him his formal Kimono and Obasan could tell him what sort of flower to bring. While part of him didn't want to get hooked up at 16, or at all really since life was so fragile and he didn't want to be alone again like he had been after Kaede died, the other part knew that if he got Cupid mad things would be rough, and he already had a rough life. A few days later, his kimono arrived in a package and so, the day he was to meet his future bride he put it on looking at himelf in the miror. For the flower he decided to make a small boquet instead, one made of three flowers, an amaryllis which represented shyness, a white anenome which meant sinceratiy and a daffodil for respect. He headed to the room specified and waited there nervously, wondering what was going to happen next.

Felicity nervously ran her fingers through her hair, taking one last glance at herself in the mirror before heading down to room 121. She couldn’t deny that she was anxious about meeting her match, she had no idea what to expect. Her heels clicked with each step she took and she focused on breathing steadily. She couldn’t explain the feeling. Of course she was nervous about the whole situation, but at the same time she was kind of happy. She was about to meet her soul mate, what fifteen year old girl didn’t dream about the day when they’d meet the person they were meant to be with. This whole thing surprised her, she knew it was silly to feel this way when she hadn’t even met him yet. It was quite out of character for her. She smiled to herself, looking down at the dress she had chosen to wear. It was a dress she had bought with her mother back in France. Her mother had insisted that she buy it. “You’ll need it sooner or later.” Her mom had told her. Felicity was trying not to let herself get her hopes up. Sure, she was excited, but there was always the chance that he wouldn’t like her. She had never had an experience like this before. It kind of reminded her of the dances that they used to have back home, though she’d never been the type of girl to dress up for the events or go to them at all. She’d never even had a boyfriend. Or any type of romantic interest for that matter, it was all new to her. When she finally reached the room, she took a deep breath and turned the door handle. A shy smile spread across her face when she saw a boy waiting there for her. He wore a dark kimono and Felicity instantly noticed the beautiful detailing. He also had a small bouquet in his hands. How thoughtful. Felicity thought. She stepped into the room timidly, still smiling at him. “Hello, I’m Felicity. Are you Kohaku?” She asked. Kohaku looked up as he heard his name bieng called and swallowed at the sight of the girl infront of him. She looked good, he thought offering a low bow in respect, eyes looking at the floor, like always in nerve wracking situations he retreated into his formal side of his personality. It didn't make such situations more comfortable, but it made him feel more at ease with himself. "Hai, I'm Kohaku." He said quietly, "It's nice to meet you Felicity-san." He licked his lips slightly, and added, "Douzo yoroshiku. Well, shall we go in?" He opened the door and gestured for her to enter with another deep bow. When she was in, he closed the door and glanced at his hand and flushed when he realised that he still had the flowers in his hands. "Oh, these are for you." he said handing them to her, eyes looking at the ground, embarassed. He looked at her shyly, wondering why she looked familiar, she didn't look to be sixteen so bieng in his year was out. "Excuse me," he said hesitantly, "Are you in Hufflepuff? I think I've seen you around but I'm not exactly sure. I don't really pay attention to who is in my House." He felt embarassed to admit that he didn't pay the best attention to who was in his house so he looked around for a chair, which he found and sat down. He hoped his face didn't show his nervousness, and watched her wondering what her next move would be. He also wondered if he would be able to let her know his plans on going back to Japan after he graduated, because he didn't want to live in England any longer then he had to. It had taken his Obasan and Ojisan along time to convince him to even finish his seventh year at Hogwarts.

Felicity watched as Kohaku bowed at her and she bowed back in return. She didn’t know much about Japanese culture, but she knew that bowing was a sign of respect. Maybe Kohaku would be able to teach her a little more about it. She gave him a welcoming smile, he looked just as nervous as she felt. When he introduced himself she noticed he had a rather thick accent, this she found adorable. She had a feeling that she and Kohaku would get along, so far she could already sense that he was kind and respectful and she admired the fact that he had a different cultural background. He spoke in Japanese and Felicity found this quite impressive. She nodded coyly and followed Kohaku in. “Thank you, they’re lovely.” She said a genuine smile spreading across her face as she admired the flowers he’d given her. She was growing less nervous now that she was beginning to realize how sweet Kohaku was. She nodded when he asked if she was in Hufflepuff. “Yes, I’m a fifth year. I think I may have seen you around the common room.” She was pretty sure that Kohaku was in the Hufflepuff house too now that she thought about it. He was probably older than her, but hopefully not by much. She sat down in a chair near his and crossed her ankles, trying to look as elegant as possible. She didn’t know why she was trying so hard to impress him, it was another out of character thing for her. She noticed his eyes on her and she blushed looking down into her lap. “I bet Hogwarts is rather different from Japan.” She said, finally looking into his eyes as she spoke. “I’ve always wanted to go.” She added smiling.

Kohaku couldn't help but grin as he saw her bow in return, most people just looked at him funny or asked if he wanted them to return the bow, they rarely gave a bow without asking, and those who did most likely knew something about Japanese culture, or were Japanese themselves. "You probably have," Kohaku said nodding, "I'm a sixth year, myself." Personally, he was happy that she wasn't that much younger then he was, he'd feel awkward, if she was two years younger then him. He wondered what his Obasan would say when she met Felicity, she'd probably be over joyed at the quiet girl. He watched as she sat down, wondering if she was like this all the time or if she was just trying to impress him. When she blushed, he realised he might have been staring, which was rude, and lowered his eyes immediately. His jaw nearly dropped when she asked about Japan, and commented about how she'd like to go there. "It's certainly different." He admitted, trying to figure out what to say about his home. "I experienced culture shock when I first came here, so it was really different." He paused, then continued, "I really miss Japan, I lived in the Nara Prefecture, in the capital city also called Nara untill things happend that had me move here." He wasn't going to say exactly what yet, he didn't know her well enough to tell her that she would have had a brother-in-law had it not been for a fire. "You can feed the deer at many places and the history and cultural aspects is really inspiring. It's also one of the warmest prefectures in Japan, it only gets to around 41 degrees F, or 5 degrees C in the wintertime. I'd love to take you sometime." He grinned, and relaxed like he always did when he was talking about his homeland. "Have you been outside the country at all?"

Felicity was a bit relieved by the fact that Kohaku was only one year older than herself, but she knew that age was just a number and she’d be sixteen soon enough. She smiled as he told her about Japan. She could tell that he was more comfortable now, he seemed happy to be talking about his home. She briefly wondered about what “things happened” that caused him to move here. She was curious, but she refrained from asking him what he meant. They had only just met and she didn’t want to pry. If and when he wanted to tell her about it, she’d listen. She wondered how Kohaku felt about being here. Her commute was surely shorter than his and she was more than homesick, she couldn’t imagine coming all the way here from Japan. When he told her that he would love to take her to Nara sometime an excited smile spread across her face. She couldn’t believe how nice Kohaku was being to her already. It was starting to become evident that she was forming a crush on him. It surprised her. She wasn’t the type of girl that fell head over heels for boys, but Kohaku was such a gentleman. She hoped that Kohaku’s view of her wouldn’t change when he found out that she was a muggle-born. She knew that some people weren’t too accepting of people like her. It usually didn’t bother her too much but it was still an insecurity of hers. She nodded when he asked her if she’d ever been out of the country. “Well, I live in London but a lot of my family lives in France. I’ve visited only a few times but I love going. I don’t have any siblings so seeing my aunts and all of my cousins is always fun. It’s really beautiful and the shopping is amazing.” Felicity said, delighted that Kohaku had asked. “Tell me more about your family, do you have any siblings?” She asked in an attempt to get to know Kohaku better.

Kohaku nearly froze when she asked about his family. What could he tell her? That he was an orphen living with his only surviving realitives? That he used to have a twin but then because of a fire he was left all alone without his other half? "France sounds interesting, I've never been there." He said, deciding to comment about her travels rather then his family to stall for a little while longer. Of course that little while longer came and went and he still didn't know what to say. He didn't want to tell her and then have her pity him, he didn't need pity, he was perfectly fine by himself. Of course he had tried telling his cousin quite a few times but he never seemed to listen. "I live with my Aunt, Uncle and cousin Satoru in London." he said finally, settling on the latter half of his story. He wondered if he should add that they were his only family left but decided not to. No sense giving all of his past away right at once, he didn't know her that well despite the fact that Cupid seemed to deem them fit to be together. He wanted to tell her but at the same time felt himself pulling away, it was a gut feeling that he'd experienced quite alot especially during his first few years of school, it was why he didn't have a lot of friends, he'd withdraw and not want to talk with them. His Obasan's letter flashed in his mind, she'd told him to act like a man for once and if he didn't want to tell her at first, then take her to meet his family on the day after the anniversary, since the day they died was still sacred and something thing that he wanted to do alone untill he was onehundred percent sure he was happy with Felicity. Oh pox, he should just do it and get it over with, lies-or at least half-truths weren't good for a relationship. "Felicity-san." he asked hesitantly, "Would you like to meet my parents and brother in two weeks?"

Felicity watched Kohaku’s expression change, he looked uncomfortable and hesitant. She tried to think of what she could’ve said to make him so tentative. When he spoke of his home in Japan before he looked so happy, what happened? She smiled at his response, still wondering if she had said something wrong. “It is, I wish I could go more often.” She replied. She waited for him to tell her about his family, but as the seconds went by she began to worry that he wasn’t going to. Perhaps family was another touchy subject. She had a feeling that this may be something else he didn’t want to share and she scolded herself for asking. She was doing just what she was trying not to. She told herself that she shouldn’t pry or be nosey and she was. Felicity tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and prepared to change the subject, but then he answered. He lived in London as well which was convenient. It was a relief that he didn’t live far away from her. She didn’t believe in long distance relationships since she had yet to see one actually work and her owl, Loretta, was rather slow when delivering mail. Most of the time, Felicity didn’t receive letters until a week or two later than they were supposed to arrive. If he lived in London too, then she could easily visit him on the holidays, if he wanted her to of course. She still had a feeling that there was something he was trying to avoid saying, but she figured she was just over-analyzing the simple situation. When he asked her if she would like to meet his parents and brother, a rush of excitement hit her. She’d really love to meet Kohaku’s family, she hoped that they’d like her. Maybe someday she could invite Kohaku over to meet her parents, hopefully he’d be okay visiting a muggle household. She gazed down at the flowers on her lap, “Of course, I’d love to.” She said. “It’s really kind of you to invite me, you’re really sweet, you know that?” She said, her eyes meeting his, a hint of a smile on her lips.

Kohaku managed to offer a small smile, trying to yank his thoughts out from where they were headed. It wouldn't do to get depressed now, if for the simple reason that it was rude to be depressed about the past when he was facing a future where for at least a little while he wouldn't be alone, even if they never fell in love, hopefully they'd be close enough so that Kohaku would never feel alone again. He felt a light blush dust his cheeks and wondered if she'd still think about it when he took her to the Room of Requirement to show her the graves that Hogwarts had provided for him. The real graves of course were in Japan, but somehow the castle had taken the knowledge of what they looked like from his mind and created it for him when he wanted it, he even saw flowers infront of the grave that he thought had been placed there by the castle herself. "Arigatou gozaimasu," he said, softly. He didn't exactly know if he was sweet or not, no one had ever called him that before, at least outside of his family. "It's just the polite thing to do you know? You'll run into Satoru some time here at Hogwarts, 'specially if you hang out with me." He didn't know what else to say, at least not here. "So, tell me about yourself, what do your parents do for a living?" He wanted to get to know his match better, to see if they had any hope in persuing something romantic or if it would be best to be left at a very close friendship, he honestly didn't care either way, what ever made Felicity-san happy was what mattered. He mentally started to prepare an answer for her, should she ask him about his family, that way he didn't leave her hanging and waiting for an answer. It would be painful, he knew but didn't someone say that in order to heal you had to talk about it? He couldn't remember where though.
