Given a free afternoon, Dorrien could always be counted upon to be doing something interesting. A few weeks ago, he'd tried to go to Hogsmeade through a secret passageway he'd found, only to go around in circles for half an hour before someone found him and broke him out of the magical maze. And then a few days later he'd been found talking to the entrance doors of Hogwarts, who were merrily telling him stories. Oh, and once, he'd been making a potion that grew him an extra tail, and some fur...in retrospect, that had not been the best of all his ideas. Oh, and there had been the time a few days ago when he went into the library and stumbled on some liquor filled chocolates - oh, well, not the best idea he'd ever had either, especially since they'd turned out to be really old. And strong. And the librarian had banned him for three days.
Yes, Dorrien had a history for getting caught for things that weren't his fault, but that was something he preferred not to dwell on.
Instead, he preferred to continue to do exciting things. Today he was doing something he did quite often - dive into the great lake to try and look for the giant squid. Despite his research into the subject, he had discovered no good ways of breathing underwater (transfiguration? gah! he'd tried that also, and almost died of having a goldfish head) so he wasn't having much success. He dived down a few times, went as low as he could without his breath running out (which was not nearly low enough to see anything interesting) and then came back up again. A few more rounds of this had him totally tired out.
He swam back to the shore, and then climbed out, dripping wet. His t-shirt and shorts were sticking to him uncomfortably - as was his long hair. He sat down by the edge of the lake, panting slightly, and then shook his head like an overgrown dog, splattering water all around him. He knew there were people around who were looking at him, but he didn't particularly care about them, specifically because he didn't know that they were laughing at him - which fact, if he'd known it, would certainly have made him sad. All things considered, it was better to be ignorant and happy.
Not that Dorrien could ever live with being ignorant - so he had to be ignorant about being ignorant, as well.

A gentle breeze swept through Ambrosia's hair as she walked through the grounds of Hogwarts. It was a beautiful day with absolutely nothing to do. She'd been to the common rooms which were uncommonly void of human life forms. She had been to the library and even the kitchens but in all honestly the slytherin didn't care much for house elves. So with nothing left to do she wondered around the grounds bored and contemplative. Then a boy, who she had not seen before. caught her eye... as boys always do. She checked around to make sure no one else was near by then smiled there were a few but not enough to make a difference. It would seem that she would have a little fun this evening after all. A small alarm went off in her hear because well truth be told she was "seeing" someone but he was currently taking a test and it wasn't like they were official...her thoughts drifted away as she made her way towards the cute guy who was a sixth year? She couldn't tell yet but he was around her age.
She got to him right as he returned to shore. She bit her lip and giggled as his white shirt hid nothing and everything stuck to him in such a flattering way leaving little to the imagination. "You got out too soon I was so hoping to join you for a small swim." she said behind him then walked around and faced him. "I'm Ambrosia Phoenix Casper, Slytherin, Sixth year and you are?" she inquired batting her eye lashes and biting gently on her lower lip. Her hand stuck out to shake his. Depending on what kind of guy this was would determine her next move...

The last thing in the world that he had expected was a slytherin.
It was just as well that Dorrien loved surprises. And this one was pretty at that, though Dorrien had absolutely no idea why she was talking to him. Still, Dorrien would talk with anyone who would actually talk to him, so he grinned, and shook his head (getting some water on all his surroundings once again) and started, "Hi! I've never met you before! Are you interested in the giant squid in the lake too? We can go again if you like! But I just need to rest for a moment or two, because it was really tiring." This was all said in one quick breath, which meant that half of it must have been really hard for her to understand, but Dorrien didn't really understand that concept very well. If he knew what he was saying, why couldn't she?
"Its nice to meet you Ambrosia," he said after a breath, getting slightly calmer but not much. "I'm Dorrien..and I'm a sixth year too, isn't that amazing? You have a really pretty name by the way. I'm in Ravenclaw." He grinned at her, and then his expression got slightly dreamy. "I've been wanting to meet the giant squid since I came here, but it turns out I'm a terrible swimmer and even worse at transfiguration...what about you thought? Are you a good swimmer?" He was still remembering the shark head he'd tried to give himself, so he half-shuddered, and then realized that it was quite cold also. He needed to get a little warmer.
Which was why he decided to pull out his wand and try a little warming spell - which was not a good idea at all, because the moment Dorrien said the spell, there was a loud explosion, and soon everything around was covered with a nasty smelly neon green goo.
"I'm really sorry!" he started, trying profusely to get it off him, and hoping it hadn't gotten on her - though it probably had.
[OOC: I know how late this is, and I'm REALLY sorry. I won't make excuses...it was just, well, a bad time.]
